I REALLY WANT TO BLOG BUT I DON’T KNOW HOW

I’m 60 years old.  I don’t hide it or lie about it.  But because I didn’t grow up in the age of computers and cell phones, there is a learning curve to everything I do ONLINE.  And it doesn’t come easily a lot of the time.

I’ve learned a lot over the years about Social Media, creating images and blogging.  That is always changing and I NEVER feel like I know everything I could.  And there have been times when that was just NOT good for my business.

I mean sometimes I wonder if those experts speak in a foreign language!

In this video, I’ll be showing you 3 excuses you might be making to avoid growing your business. And if you want direct help from me, sign up for my Masterclass here.

Let’s get started.

Excuse #1 – I can’t afford help.

Money was a BIG issue for me in the Recession.  We had to rent out our home and move into my mom’s house to avoid foreclosure.  I had to allow all of my employees to leave and run my business alone which lead to health problems.  I was starting my online business but there was such a huge learning deficit that I spent a lot of time learning how to do something only to have that skill squashed with even newer technology.

I didn’t have the money to get help with it.  I always felt like I was behind the curve.  I kept working at it but I could see I was losing that battle.

Times are better now.  And I can really see how hiring some of your technical work out is a huge help.  There are only so many hours in the week and you also have to make a living, right?

I still like to learn how to do things myself but there is work that is worth a little money to have done for you.
So quite a few times I have turned to Fiverr.com for help.  And it’s been great!  When I started, I had one experience that wasn’t a 5, their top rating, but I learned after that how to find the best people.  That doesn’t mean you will get everything for just $5.00 when you need something complex or time consuming but you will usually still get a good price for something that would cost you a lot of time to do.  Remember that your time has a value and so does your focus. Staying focused on what you do best is key when building your blog.

Excuse #2    I don’t have that degree. Why would anyone listen to me?

Do you have Imposter Syndrome?  I see a lot you out there saying that you have a point of view, life experience or even a whole business model but you can’t imagine anyone listening to you.  There are so many experts out there already and you are NO expert. So you couldn’t possibly start blogging. You just won’t ever find an audience.

Really? You think that successful bloggers are bright and shining and perfect.  Maybe YOU think that you are dull, boring, have an accent, aren’t pretty, too fat (ahem, I mean fluffy), too old, too young, too poor, too rich, too rural, too urban, too weird or even too Martian.
Come on.

We listen to bloggers we RELATE to.  If you’re blogging about food, then your followers will love your food and the way you talk about it.  If you’re blogging about organic beauty products, then your followers will like your natural blends and your videos on how to use them.  If you’re blogging about how to be a Martian, then your followers will love Martian life and your Martian accent!

When you find your Ideal Client, then they are interested in you and what you’re selling.  Everyone else is NOT your Ideal Client so we just don’t WORRY about them.  On the internet YOU are reaching out to millions of people and your Ideal Clients are out there.  In fact, they are hungry to find you because they don’t know someone like you who speaks their language.

You may feel that you’re alone in the world with your topic and opinions, but I guarantee you have an audience out there waiting just for you.  The world is a big and abundant place.

Excuse #3  I can’t start my blog because I have not had all the success I want yet.

Well, that is just lame.  My friend kept doing the same thing in her business over and over without moving forward.  She thought that starting a Facebook group would be enough.  Because people weren’t joining at the rate she wanted, she thought she was a failure.  Yet she continued that same strategy over and over.

Look success or failure is just information it doesn’t have an emotion.  You connect the emotion to it.  Instead of moaning about what you don’t have, how about learning the lessons from what you’re doing now and taking it to the next level.  Don’t just spin your wheels in one place, get up and get it going.  Talk to those who are interested in your subject and then ask what they really need.  That way you can be addressing their particular wants and needs.

They will think you’re reading their minds and you will get a strong following of raving fans!
